Check out these pictures of recent events at Baker-Butler!

Check out some of the exciting events and activities that have been happening at Baker-Butler over the past week!

Our partners at the UVA Sculpture department were here to discuss the sculpture in our back area with our students, and then every student in our school created an original clay artifact. These artifacts will be buried and then excavated over the coming 30 years as a part of an active archeological dig. Check out more about this project at this website.

We are excited about our continued partnership with QuickStart Tennis, which has been a wonderful program to introduce our students to tennis. One of our favorite parts of this program is when we have guest visitors from the UVA men's and women's tennis teams here to play with our students. Check out this site for more information about our partnership with QuickStart Tennis these past two years.

Check out Dustin Tayor, UVA Men's Tennis Assistant Coach, playing with our 2nd graders!
We recently launched some exciting Minecraft units with students in 3rd grade classrooms. They're exploring the book Poppy through their creations and explorations of a literature map in Minecraft. Here are some pictures of their first day launch of this exciting unit!

We recently hosted an exciting anti-bullying assembly about building positive character. The band Reverse Order, most recently featured on America's Got Talent, performed popular songs and spoke candidly of their stories of being bullied and how to overcome these challenges while being kinder to one another. It was a great message and the students loved their performance!

Finally, our 4th graders just performed Music of America, which featured popular songs about America.

What a great week it's been at Baker-Butler!
